BILL SIDERAVAGE

Growing up in Windsor Locks Bill always wanted to be a Raider. From age 9, he was a fixture in athletics And was a member of the 6 th grade All Star travel basketball team.


Bill was a starter on 5 consecutive Little League All Star teams, and had a single, double and RBI in the 13-year-old Little League state championship game.


Bill played 3 sports in middle school and received the Jimmy Downes Athletic Award as an 8 th grader.


As a Windsor Locks High Raider, Bill was a 3-sport varsity athlete who also won the underclassman athletic award.

His junior year, he was a starting half back on a young soccer team that beat highly ranked E.O. Smith vaulting the Raiders into the state tournament.


Bill is one of the rare senior athletes who was captain of all three of legendary Coach Dan Sullivan’s sports-soccer, basketball and baseball – and helped lead the Raiders to Coach Sullivan’s 300 th soccer win.


Baseball was Bill’s best sport. He was named All Conference as a Junior and Senior. As a senior, he was selected to the Class M All-State Team – one of only four 80’s era Raiders to be voted All-State.

In his senior campaign, Bill had a .320 average and won 8 games on the mound for the 14-7 Raiders highlighted by a two hit and eleven strikeout performance against South Windsor, a game in which hehad 3 hits, 3 RBI’s and scored 3 runs. He also played 3 years of American Legion baseball.


After high school Bill went on to pitch at Southern Connecticut State University. He played 3 years for the Owls; his sophomore year he led the team in relief innings and won his lone start of the season.


Bill remained active in athletics, becoming a certified official for high school football and basketball, as well as a baseball umpire for three years.

Following his parents’ example, he transitioned to youth sports
as his family grew, coaching soccer and managing the Bunker Hill Soccer Association for many years.

Additionally, he participated in the Blessed Sacrament Sports Association for seven years, serving as an assistant basketball coach alongside his wife, Mary Beth, while also leading the organization for five
years.


At the age of 41, he took up running and completed his first half marathon. Over the next 10 year, he finished 11 half marathons, 3 full marathons and 2 long distance challenges.

A huge Disney fan, Bill completed the Disney World Goofy Challenge, consisting of a half marathon and full marathon on back-to-back days.

He followed that up in 2018 by completing the Dopey Challenge with his daughter Elizabeth, running a 5k, 10k, half marathon and full marathon over 4 consecutive days.


Bill lives in Waterbury, CT, with the better athlete and his wife of 32 years, Mary Beth.

They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Lauren, and are proud grandparents to 18-month-old Elle and 2-month-old
Nora.

They enjoy golfing, family beach trips, Disney visits, and traveling to Knoxville, TN, to see their family, including their grandpup, Kona.
