Lance is considered by many one of the best running backs in Rider history.
A big influence for Lance was his fourth -grade teacher Jim Brown. He introduced him to the game.
He played backyard football for a long time with friends, improving his skills. But right before high school started, one of his best friends, David Maratia, asked if he wanted to play high school football.
Lance and Dave went on to become legends in the Windsor Locks High School football program, earning the titles, Captains.
Dave broke the single game sack record as nose guard on defense, all while helping Lance gain huge chunks of yardage as Lance’s pulling guard on offense.
Junior year Lance ran for 1,079 rushing yards and returned his senior year and rushed for 1,733 yards to break the single-season rushing record.
Lance had a career-high of 2,812 all-purpose rushing yards.
Lance was coached by Coach Scelza, the head coach, and Coach Netcoh, the assistant coach.
Coach Scelza gave Lance the nickname “Hollywood” because of all the crazy juke moves, speed, and strength that he showed on the field.
He would say that Lance’s style of playing the game was something out of a Hollywood movie.
It did not stop there for Lance, after high school he went on to American International College in Springfield, MA where he played football. In his freshman year, the team won the Division II championship and Lance finally earned his ring.
Lance graduated from AIC in 2004 and has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the last six years.
Just as in his days in a Raider uniform, Lance has gained recognition for excelling in his career by adding new business and growing those accounts for his employer.
