CHARLIE SIMONETTA

Charlie graduated in 1957 and played baseball and basketball.

Basketball was is best sport.

His class was the last team to play in the old town hall gym before they moved to present location of the middle school.

In his last high school game, Charlie poured in 17 points in a losing cause to New Canaan in the state tournament final.

New Canaan was a dominant school and were led by a 6’8” player.

During that season Charlie made All- Conference, All-State was well as the All- Tournament team.

In the 50’s the Raiders were a basketball powerhouse, winning the conference all most every year. Charlie was blessed to play for 2 Hall of Fame coaches, Coach Spud Shapiro and Coach Al Shapiro.

Showing his athletic versatility, Charlie played baseball for many years at the shortstop position.

Charlie has been married to his wife Patricia for 60 years. They have 3 children John, Paul, and Mark. He has 7 grandchildren.

Charle was a teacher in elementary education in Enfield before moving to the Windsor Locks school system.

In Windsor Locks, Charlie became a Guidance Counselor spending 30 years preparing students for their future.

Charlie continues to stay active in athletics by routinely playing golf. Charlie and his family spent many of their vacations at the Cape.

He has visited Italy 5 times.

He has enjoyed woodworking.

The only regret he has, there was no 3-point line when he played
