ED STARON

From a young age Ed Staron was an avid sports enthusiast  with a particular passion for both baseball and basketball. 

Ed was a starter on the 1976 WL Little League All Star team and the 1979 WL Senior League All Star team. As a member of WLHS Class of 1982, Ed was a 3 year starter in varsity baseball and basketball.

His outstanding achievements in both sports resulted in numerous honors during his high school athletic career.

Ed received All Conference recognition in both basketball and baseball for his junior and senior years, Class L Honorable Mention All State Basketball in his senior year and Class M Honorable Mention All State Baseball in his senior year. 

Ed was named to the Journal Inquirer 1982 All Area Basketball 1st Team during his senior year, and was also named Journal Inquirer Player of the Week that same year, having averaged 34 Points per Game for the week. 

Ed was selected to play in the 9th Annual Connecticut High School Coaches All Star baseball game, and pitched his 1982 Class M baseball team to the state semi-finals.

After graduating WLHS, Ed attended Southern Connecticut State University where he was a 2 year starter, 4 year player and senior year co-captain for his SCSU team which qualified for the 1983 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region men’s basketball tournament.

Returning to Windsor Locks after college, Ed played on the WL Knights of Columbus tournament softball team which competed in several national tournaments.  Ed is also an accomplished bowler with many honor scores including multiple 300 games.

Now an avid golfer, Ed and his wife Christine still reside in Windsor Locks.
